current LCD TVs? So I have been saving up money for an awesome TV and I am looking at getting the Samsung LN55a950. However, last time I bought something that was top of the line (Sony LCD projection TV) it backfired since the life span was so short before the TVs picture began to deteriorate noticeably. So anyways I would like to keep the next tv I buy for at least 7 years. Do you think that current LED technology is reliable, or should I just get the Sony XBR6? Price is obviously important, but since I am going to be keeping the TV a long time I want to go with something that will be somewhat current down the road while not breaking down.
LN55a950 (~$4k) or the Sony kdl-52xbr6 (~$2600)
Thanks
Hi Peter thanks for responding.
I have seen the kuro in real life, and the picture is nothing less than outstanding. However, I just dont think that it would last very long. My freind recently purchased a plasma and within a year he had the dreaded burn ins. I would rather stay away from plasma sets even though they have better pictures. And as far as the OLEDs, like you said I dont think it would be worth that long to wait for a stable set that is over 50 inches. I know I cant expect to purchase a tv that competes with OLEDs when they become mainstream, but I just want a TV that will give me a picture that can compete with it and last at least 6 or 7 years.
