So I'm taking the ASVAB tomorrow. As of right now I WANT to be a MP... But when I talked to my recruiter on Thursday he said I needed a security clearance. Now for me I have a perfect record! No tickets, never even seen the inside of a jail or courthouse! Made good grades! The whole nine! I'm a good kid! Buuuuut while talking to him he asked about debts and collection agencies. Which I have several debts in collection and I won't be able to pay then til I'm in the Army. Yes I'm a good kid who's broke lol. So with that being said I don't think I'll be able to get my security clearance, which is needed to be a MP. I was thinking I could just go 11B (since no clearance is needed) then (if possible) switch to 31B asap! But I was wondering can that be done? Can I join something like 11B (which is probably high priority) then switch right out as soon as it's clear? Will I get slack for switching out? And is it a chance I'll get my clearance even with the debts? Thanks in advance!!
PS my total debts are small around $1500 for everything. But I'm only working part-time and don't have enough steady income to cover my Current bills and collections.
