As I was going to St Ives
I met a man with seven wives
each wife had seven sacks
each sack had seven cats
each cat had seven kits
kits, cats, sacks, wives,
how many were going to St Ives?
 
Most of you would say 1, but what you didnt know is that he got shot before he could get to St. Ives. Many said zero though, and thats wrong because the killer headed to St. Ives and he had six wives and two of his wives had cats and one had a polar bear, but one of the cats was cut in half, so the answer is 9 1/2
 
while you were going to st.ives you met a man with seven wives...........

and you didn't mention whether the man was going in the direction of st.ives or the opposite.........

so this riddle cant be solved

there is no proper information
