A friend's budget is extra tight, which is the only reason he's now willing to consider feeding something besides commercial food.
Dog won't touch raw meat of any sort. Friend is NOT willing to starve his dog until it eats what's served. Dog spent 10 years chained in junkyard, where he was never fed on weekends.
His neighbor sources pork organ meats for ca 30 percent of what dog food costs. Heart, liver, tongue, spleen. Unfortunately no tripe, no muscle meats with bones.
So far, dog loves cooked spleen the best. Minced heart mixed with rice comes in second (dog won't touch heart alone). Friend has been throwing in crushed eggshells and occasional raw eggs.
So ...how much spleen is too much?

Anything there's danger of overdosing on?

I've only ever fed raw full prey, with occasional detours into raw full prey model, and frequent treats of frozen fish, and extra tripe whenever I get it free, so I'm stumped here! I'm very well aware of the ideal, don't need to be schooled on how to feed in optimal circumstances. Please, no radical fundamentalist raw answers from people privileged enough to be able to make ideal choices. Sometimes life just isn't ideal and a dog gets fed more organ meat than ideal. Because of a death in the family, a second dog is joining their household ... she is willing to eat raw, so at least she'll be getting raw bones via chicken backs.
