how much transmission fluid?

I own a 1979 GMC Sierra Grande', i have recently drained the entire vehicle of transmission fluid due to it being filled to much. I need to know how much transmission fluid to put into the vehicle so it's at the proper level. Automatic transmission, 320 engine
