How much weight can my truck tow?

I drive a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. It has a regular cab, 2WD - rear wheel, and 4cyl engine. The listed capacity for this vehicle is in the neighborhood of 1500lb, but it has a manual transmission. I've heard that a manual transmission can take down the towing capacity of a vehicle and I'm wondering how much this would affect my particular truck.
