hello, im looking to buy a car, and i found a very nice car for a reasonable price but the only thing wrong with it is it needs a valve replaced on it....so i talked to my friend and he said if one valve needs to be replaced then all of them will need to be soon...so just a quick easy question for a car nut out there.....how much would it cost to replace all valves on a mitsubishi 3000gt?

I don't know what kind of price you might pay for this car but to replace a valve is a complete upper engine overhaul and you have to take the head off and you don't know how the rest of the engine is.

Unless you're in love with this car I'd pass because this job could be more than the car is worth.

I did the last one for $2,500. Make sure you pull the hydraulic lifters (lash adjusters) and test them. They must be rock solid when pressed against a vice. If you get any movement they need replacing.
I'd also suggest letting a machine shop do the work. If the valves are not bent they may be ground and used again. Don't let a regular garage mechanic do the work, they usually screw the timing belt up. Replace the water pump while the motor is apart.
