how often can u safely wash your dog?

i have a springer spaniel and he loves romping through the fields when i take him walkies.
his coat smells a bit doggy now and again. which in turn makes the house smell a bit
how often can he safely be bathed

vets say once a year but every month will do

once a fortnight should be fine you can buy deodorising tablets from the pet shop as well
