How often should I go to the gym?

Recently me and a friend started going to the gym but she wants to go everyday (sometimes even twice a day) but I honestly don't think I can manage it, I haven't done any exercise for a long time.

Last time I went, I did 20 mins on the treadmill, 20 mins on an exercise bike and 20 mins on a elliptical and was thinking of going every other day. I don't want to lose weight or get up to a certain level of fitness, I just want to feel healthier, so how often should I be going?

Like you suggested,very other day is good for you.
Try doing some weight training, it helps break up the monotony, you'll get bored fast and stop going.
