Tonight, a friend and I had a little mishap, before I continue let me start by saying we are visiting family who live on an Apache reservation in Arizona (San Carlos Apache Reservation) and we've come to notice that people here tend to be a little to alot slower than anyone off the reservation.. everyone. We were going to my aunt's house, and were stopped for doing 60 in a 45mph zone, and when he came up, my friend had jus lit a cigarette, and upon seeing it, the officer told him to throw it out, which was fine with me, because I can understand him not wanting us to be smoking while he was there, however, he then asked us how old we were. I, being 19, told him, and he, 18. Then he asked us to both hand over our packs of cigarettes, and I asked why and he said we weren't old enough to be smoking. I told him we were over 18 and that the law requires us to be 18 or older to purchase them, and that we had jus gotten carded earlier tonight to buy those cigarettes. The officer then said he didn't kno who sold us those cigs, but that we're not allowed yet. I couldn't let it fly, considering the price of cigs now, and kept informing him it was 18+, then he asked me if you could be 18 to be drunk, I said I'm not drunk, he said I didn't say you were answer my question, so I did and said no, 21, then he said same for smoking. Is he right? Or does this cop need to go back to the police academy? Also, he charged me with criminal speeding, when in Arizona, criminal speeding is defined as speed 20mph over the speed limit posted (as I also mentioned, there is no speed posted there).
