Is is permissable for us to say "Assalamu Alaikum" when greeting a Bahai person, or replying "Walaikum Alsalaam" when they greet you?
The people of the Bahai are Islams best friends, they strongly believe in Muhammad (MPBUH) and the Quran. they just throw in some other people that they think were prophets (and who knows??? maybe they were) and meditation in with their prayers. Nothing against Islam, just slightly different. I am asking because I have a cousin who is Bahai and greets me with Asalam Alaikum and so do her children, and I don't want to offend them.

salam is only peace...so its just like saying pce to them....peace is alowed isn't it? .......

no, a non muslim should not be greated with salam, but what is a bahai??------------------> see my edit

but if they great you with salam

you say

hada kAllah

which means may Allah guide you

or you could reply

wa aleykum

which means and to you

but you should not initiate the salam with them, because the salam is for the muslims

EDIT

My answer was in reference to non-muslims....do they believe that there was a prophet after the prophet Muhammed?

I do not know what bahai is??

what is that exactly??

Its always aloud 2 reply with wa alaikum as salam when someone greets u with salam alaikum

If they dont say salam alaikum than just say hi 2 them
im greeting everyone with hi and just saying salam 2 muslims

It depends; do you wish them peace, or don't you? Nothing else should matter.

just say hello....
you're not allowed to say salam back
I do that to certain people....

your allowed to say salaam to anyone, even if they dont reply. you get rewarded for it its also a form of zakat.
i know when a stranger says salaam to me, makes me smile, and makes my day.

ma salaama pepz :)
