How to activate internet in LG P500?

I've a new LG P500 set. The phone's cool but its kinda difficult to activate internet on my phone. Internet on my sim has been activated. Its just the settings that needs to be done on the phone.
The sim is 2G. I tried activating only that and tried few hook and crook methods. Activated GSM; deactivted 3G but it still din't work. Please let me know what should be done so that I can get this internet thingi started on my phone.
 
there are 2 methods which u can try:
1 contact your network operator on the helpline number and ask them to either send the settings by sms or make u install them manually on your phone.if they make u install the setting manually then it is better that u contact from some other mobile.
2 if the above method does not work then u can visit the website of lg and download the settings from there.
3 if the above methods don't work then i think there might be a technical fault in your phone.then u can visit the lg service center and tell them your problem.hope this works for u
