How to ask for my sold vacation check ... politely.?

My company recently merged with another. In the process I didn't take my vacation because I was asked to help with transition. In another words, I sold my vacation! I now work for the new company we merged with. A month has passed and I haven't been paid for my sold vacation yet. I don't like to be rude. What's is the best way to tell my boss about this? If he refuses to pay me, who should I contact?
