How to cancel T mobile contract?

I have a 24month contract with T mobile which I am now on my 17th month and still have another 7/8 months left, I want to cancel my contract because from the very beginning Ive had really bad reception from T mobile but whenever I ring them they told me they're improving the coverage and I can get better signal by also picking up the orange signal aswell which has been no help whatsoever, and they have credited my account every now and then because of the bad reception but I dont want to anymore I just want to cancel!

its only cos they said they are improving their service and gave me some credit that i stayed on but I still havnt seen an improvement and they said they are not going to give me credit anymore, The cancellation department says i need to pay cancellation charge of £177 to cancel, which i dont want to pay for rubbish service and rubbish reception but they say ive still managed to make calls last month but only because I can make calls only in certain areas not in the areas i need 2! there are many times my phone just says emergency calls only when i try to make calls or fails to send my txts so i have to send it multiple times to get it to send, any ideas on what to do, i know you can cancel in the first month but 17 months in? ive put up with it cos ive been busy with uni/work and also that they've given me some credit every now and then but I can take it anymore, its very frustrating to make calls.
