How to catch a deep pass in football?

I'm talking about one of those 50 to 60 yard ones. Everytime I go to catch one I jump like I do with most passes( except hitch and curl). Can somebody tell me how to stay on the ground when I go to catch it instead of jumping. No BS answers like " if you really played you should know"
