How to cook on Itouch for sims 3 ambitions?

How do you cook and gain a Point? I read some advice and it says to buy a stove, and I bought the most expensive one. When I click or touch on the stove, the only two options are to cook a meal, which gains you no experience point, and to walk to it. So how do you cook to gain a point in the experience level? Also, I bought a bunch of different recipes and food but nothing worked!

Go to the book store and buy cooking books: vol 1, vol 2, vol 3
And you should be able to gain experience from cooking a regular meal.

go to hobby store buy cooking pots go home and then in your item section click on the cooking pots and then place them on your stove, it should then give you the choice to practice cooking
