Okay, I'm a senior in high school who's the head of Stage Crew. There's this kid on our crew who CONSTANTLY argues with me. In his eyes, he's not trying to be a jerk -- he just always has something to say, criticism of a decision I make, etcetera. In my mind, he's an overbearing asshole underclassman. I can never do anything without him arguing with me or saying that I'm doing something wrong when in reality I'm not. When he finally realizes this, he'll just be like "...oh." It just takes him FOREVER to finally realize that he's wrong. If I try to just ignore him, he argues with me anyway -- whether I'm trying to do something, talk to someone or teach someone -- he just gets all "******* listen to me!!!" I can take this, but what I cannot do is run this crew with him effectively. I have to work with other departments, and it's not exactly "professional" or "polite" to be teaching someone from the Music Department how to run the lighting board when you have a kid on your back yelling at you who won't stop. How do I get him to stop? I've tried talking to him, I've tried ignoring him, I've tried explaining my logic to him calmly... I just don't know how to get him to stop.
I would tell him that he's right just to end it, but the thing is that then he'd expect me to follow through with his "suggestion." Aiming a light a certain way, wiring something the way he thinks we should. When I don't and go along with my way, he'll just be like, "why the hell aren't you doing it MY way? We agreed on this that I was right!" soo...
