How to fix sony ericsson w995 red light.?

I have a sony ericsson w995 that has a red light on the back, it doesn't flash it just stays on and the phone won't turn on. It won't be be detected by the computer or the PC companion. Once i unplug the cable from the phone it turns off then i plug it back in and it lights up. Please help

Sony Ericsson's normally go like this when they have either a software malfunction or have been liquid damaged. Liquid damage can occur by the obvious drops into water but also through condensation/steam and rain damage.

If the phone is no longer under warranty then it would cost you to send the phone away to a repair centre for a diagnosis (although some places offer free quotes, check your local yellow pages). But this isn't really anything you can troubleshoot or fix yourself I'm afraid.

If the phone is liquid damaged then it is BER (beyond economic repair)
