How to get a dog to stop barking!?!?

i have a small 4 lb Pap-a-Poo(papillion poodle mix).
he is only 11 months old (bday is 4-12 yay!!) lol
ok i live in an apt. and everytime someone talks and walks past my door he barks (oh and his barks sound like a hound dog...so its extremely annoying!) i tell him no and everything....but when i go to spank his nose gently he RUNS...and i mean runs. this morning he ran from me and jumped in the tub..lol.

Advice?!?!?!? i love him to death so shock collar/barking collar NOT an option
yeah i paid money for it...big whoop! get over it people.

What you could try is getting a water bottle a spray him when he barks. Also if it gets worse, try putting him in a crate when he barks so he knows he will go for a time out when he continuously barks.
