How to get rid of shin splints?

Okay, so I've been playing sports and running for a while, but this year when lacrosse season started and we started conditioning, I got terrible shin splints. I sprained my ankle and then 2 weeks later I continued practice. Now everytime I run, I get pain so bad in my shins, ankles, and that area of my legs, that I have to sit down. Is there a way to get rid of shin splints that doesn't require rest? Because there is no way I can take off time from lacrosse. My coach is VERY strict and she gets mad when people even sit down if they're injured. I also have to run in gym every week 1-2 miles, and I have cheerleading/tumbling, so there is absolutely no way that I can stop what I'm doing. Help please!
