4 years ago i waterproofed a back wall in my house (dug 6 feet down), and used a tar (painted on) to seal the outer wall after repairs. I wasnt thinking at the time, and carried this tar up about 2.5 -3feet above ground where the cinderblock ends and brick begins. I had pargetted (finished the cinderblock with cement to make it look nice) over the tar. This worked well for about a year, until the cement started cracking and falling off becuase cement doesnt stick too well to tar. (which I should have thought about)
The tar is about 1mm thick at most, and it does still get a bit sticky when the weather heats up.
Does anyone have any ideas to get the tar off (chemical or machine) OR know of any ways to cement over the tar and not have the same problem??
Someone told me i could put foam on the wall and cement over it. This would work, but 1/2 the wall is already cemented and it sticks out just over 1/2 inch. The foam would stick out too much.
