my system:
alpine mrp-m500 amplifier
alpine DVC 4 ohm type r 12"
ported box (specs match the subs recommended box specs)
8 gague scosche wire kit.
anyhow on the amp there are 3 knobs ( gain, bass eq, and lp filter)
i want to set the all of the knobs so that i can get the best and loudest sound out of it without damaging my equipment. right now ive got my gain is at 3/4 of the way up, the LP filter is at 80, and the bass eq is at +8, i believe this is alright since ive had the system for a while now and everything has been okay and no problems, however in the back of my mind i know im no expert on car audio and the thought of damaging my equipment just bugs me. so i want to make sure everything is set so it is as loud as possible, but without the risk of damage. anybody with the same setup, how do you have all of your knobs set? and if i were to adjust it by ear what do i need to listen for when adjusting the gain and bass boost? i dont know what distortion and/or clipping sounds like, ive turned the gain all the way down and all the way up and the only diffirence i seem to hear is the loudness of it, it still seems to sound good no matter how far up i have the gain, anyhow help and input is appreciated, thanks
