How to install an exturnal dvd drive on a dell 610 labtop?

Sometimes these can be tricky. First of all make sure that you've installed the software for it if it came with any. If you do that and it still doesn't work, it may either be dead, your computer won't support it for some reason, or if it gets all its power from usb (doesn't plug into the wall), the problem can sometimes be that the cord is too long and the drive can't get enough power from it. This especially might be the case if it turns on and everything, but acts funny, like turning on then off or making a clicking noise as if it's searching a disk (or something similar).
