I'm using windows vista on my Compaq laptop. I want to use Ubuntu on it. But I don't want to give up my vista either. Now here's the problem, my DVD drive isn't working. Now I used Lucid Lynx by using the install in windows like any other program option. I installed it in a partition on my portable hard disc. But it seemed a little slow. I want to put Ubuntu liveCD on the partition of my Hard drive, so that I can use the demo option from there or install on a different partition later it i want to. My laptop does support booting from Portable HDD and flash drive too. Now Ubuntu has a tool to put the CD in a flash drive and make it bootable too, but it doesn't work on my portable HDD. I have also tried using unetbootin, which for some reason doesn't work either. Can anyone give me any other bright idea?
I know it will work it I use a flash drive! I don't have a flash drive!!! I can buy one if I have no other way left!
Again, I don't want to install inside windows like any other software, cause it makes ubuntu slow. And the process of installing from a flash drive is not working for a portable HDD
