How to make a yorkie puppy stop crying at night?

Last weekend I got my baby yorkie hes aroud 3 months old and the first night he came home he was quiet and shy and slept all night in his crate which surprised me. But the past few nights all he does is cry. His crate is in my bedroom near my bed. For the past few nights, i wont let him take naps and make him play before going to sleep and around 20 min before bedtime i wrap him in his blanket and put him in my lap and he quickly falls alseep and i carefuly put him in his crate with a shirt that ive worn, well he'll sleep for a few hours and then he cries. i cant leave him crying since my fiance works in the morning so i have to quiclky go back to the crate and put him in my lap to sleep again. ive noticed that he sleeps perfect in his pillow bed and not in his crate. ive tried putting the pillow bed in his crate but it doesnt work. and i cant leave him on the pillow bed because he is teething. i just dont know what to do with him around his bed time.
