How to powerslide for ds Mario Kart?

Tap and hold R while steering into the turn. You can obtain a short burst of speed if you alternate between the left and right buttons on the D-pad whilst powersliding until you see yellow sparks.
 
hoold down the R and L button and the A button, then whichever way yur turning go that way!
