How to put videos from iTunes to iMovie?

I've been trying so hard to transfer an iTunes tv show or movie, etc. to iMovie. I figured out I probably just need to convert it to .mov instead .m4a, but all the video converters I get are sh***y, and are all trials and include a watermark. I remember I achieved this whole thing out, but I can't seem to figure to out, and I've looked it up on google and everything, and not finding any luck.

Can anyone help me, or have some suggestions?
