how to set your applications to their default setting?

hi everyone, i downloaded a software to my pc. i tried to run it, but, i coincidently associated it with different setting. as a result, all my application icons on my desktop. changed from their default setting to different associated setting and changed all my application icon to one colour and i can not run any application icon on my pc. can some help me with that

Give us more information. There are easy fixes for your problem, however, we need to know which software you are messing with AND your operating system e.g XP, Vista, 7..... :D
