How to shrink movies for my ipod. ?

I have a hole bunch of movies and alot of tv shows for my ipod touch. I am wanting to shrink them because it is almost full. Does anyone now a good FREE program to use to shrink files. I dont want DVD shrink cause it splits the movie into several files. Also I have all the movies and tv shows I want on my computer already in mp4 format, So all i want to do is shrink the file.
