Thanks, I will add more videos gradually... the martial arts section is a bit of a joke at the moment and needs developping badly, but it will all come together in due time.

Sorry, I only noticed your question... It is necessary to use a camera, as it is the camera image sensor that is sensitive to infrared. Your eyes aren't.
You can also use the filter over a camcorder, which probably will give you a better zoom. I have written a full post on how to build the filter, and what it can do here: http://www.instructables.com/id/EY31TU6F2FQJVWJ/?comments=all#CO07EBYF2FRV7YP

Some of these things are pretty amazing, such as seeing through coke, or coffee (see the pictures)
