ok ive done this for like 4-5 years and have usually won first or second place but now that i got older in my 3 most recent sparring events i get so nervous yet this has never happened before when i was younger no im like 14 but in the ring i got so nervous i choked and my whole body was shaking heart racing and when i tried to move my body it freezes or has a delayed reaction then my normal fighting stle completly changed any ideas on how to calm myself?

I'm a practitioner of Shotokan karate and also compete and I've found it all depends if your nervous about the difficulty of the division or just the anxiety of the tournaments. My dojo has a team that goes around and competes. Having friends and even instructors around can help lighten the mood and help. It's also a mental thing. You just have to think with a level head. Apparently you've had a lot of experience. You have all the experience you need. Also warming up and stretching is a good way to get into the mood for competing.

I would suggest increasing the amount of sparing you are doing in practice, especially against those who are better than you. Instrucut them to not take it easy on you. Getting your ass beat good a few times will take the fear of it happening again out of your mind come competition.
