How To Tell My Step Dad I'm Serious About Wicca And It Isn't a Joke to Me?

So I was going to do a full moon ritual last night and I had to tell my parents that I would be inside in a couple minutes to go to bed. I was asked why so I told them and my step dad started to laugh at me and ask if I was a two year old, don't get me wrong he's a great person but he has his moments. I was reduced to doing a small ritual in my basement bedroom, it was my first ritual so it was really really simple but it worked for me and it calmed me, if that makes sense.
How do I explain to him that I am exploring a path that I don't consider as a joke and that I do take seriously? I am not dedicated to Wicca I am just trying it for the year and a day.

"Dad i'm serious about wicca, it is not a joke to me. You have your religion and i have mine."

personally i say let him laugh and don't let it bother you. you need to show him its real to you.

I think no matter what you do people will never be able to accept Wicca as a religion. There's alot of mythology behind it with witches having a very bad reputation but that's down to put folklore and Halloween hasn't done it any favours either!

All I can suggest you do is practice it in your own space and time and keep it a private thing. Most religions are private anyway so you won't be disrespecting anyone in this fashion. But realistically wicca will always regarded as the stuff of "Hocus Pocus" but just give them time and people might just learn to accept it :)
