how to unlock an iphone 4 to work with t-mobile?

im getting a used one from my friend and its in really good condition. the problem is i have t-mobile. on my plan right now i have the internet,texting,calling,etc. but how do I get it to work with an iphone as far as sim cards and everything goes? i dont know what to do with it after i get it so can anybody please help? what is 'cutting' the sim card?

In which network your iphone 4 be locked ?

I have Iphone 4g and its doesn't work with baseband 04.11.08.
Many programmers are working to get it unlock.
also ask your friend if it is factory unlock if it is it will work 100%
if not then i will not work unless the unlock have be release from applenberry.com
they are working on it new update version it will be release this month not sure when.
Hopefully that iPhone is not baseband of 04.11.08
if it is there is no way to unlock it i have tried a lot of method didt work for me.
