How to update bbm for an old OS blackberry curve 8520?

ok so i'm not too sure what OS my blackberry 8520 curve is. I'm trying to get BBM 7 but the Blackberry App World says I dont need an update. So i need to know how can i get bbm 7? and i threw away some instructions but I think i still have the disk if that helps? and i have a usb thingy too.
