How would you categorize SNL-type humor?

I'm talking about all of those New York City, SNL-ish comedians like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, etc. They star in shows like 30 Rock, The Office, Parks & Recreation, and any SNL spin-off movie, any movie with Steve Carell. A lot of NBC people.

The humor seems geared towards those in the New York hegemony (wealthy, upper class socio-economic). I can't put my finger on it but whenever I happen to watch them it seems like they have a kind of self-absorbed dry humor that's not very funny. It seems like they're attempting to ACT quarky but they're not really naturally quarky/funny people. They belong to a generally dry, boring, whitebread socio-economic group so relative to their little "clan" they're "funny".

But anyway, I don't care whether you like them or not. I guess I'm trying to think of some kind of name to categorize these types of people in. How would you describe that kind of humor and/or sub-culture??
ps: I don't care whether you like them or not. I just want to be able to put a label on it so I can understand why I NEVER seem to like any of that kind of humor. If you don't like black comedians it's easy to understand "oh, I'm not black, I don't get it". Get it??
