HTC Hero Android Cell Phone HELP! =(?

So I have a HTC Hero Android and whenever I text I can not get auto-cap every time I start a new sentence. And I mean I have in the past for some reason it has stopped and every time I start a new sentence it is in the lower case and it is really starting to bug me a whole lot. Some one please help. =(

And also I already push the cap/shift button but it doesn't stay on auto cap =(
