What function is the Red Warning Light for in the Elantra.
This light flashes continuosly in my sister's car, so obviously there is a fault.
She thinks it might be the Cambelt loose.
Is there a warning light for this?
Any help would be highly appreciated!

flashing red means stop...STOP...could b low oil pressure...go to parts store or better dealer for computer scan...

If your check engine light is flashing, stop driving it immediately and tow it to a shop that has the ability to scan the computer-preferrably a registered Hyundai dealer. There will be codes that will tell them what is wrong. Depending on the age of the vehicle, you may have Hyundai roadside assistance available to you and can get it towed for free.

Unfortunately, without knowing what the vehicle is doing (making noise, shifts funny, burning smell) there is no way to tell what is wrong with it. What year Elantra?

There isn't a separate warning light for the timing belt. You would have less power if it was loose. It will be very noisy if it breaks and in most cases, requires a major engine rebuild if not caught in time. Hyundai recommends replacement of the t-belt every 60,000 miles.

Need more info.
