I am looking at a 1997 Chevy 1500 z71 5.7l, what can you tell me about this

Great trucks. Strong engines. Lots of torque out of the box. I drive a Vortec V6 Blazer, which is essentially a 5.7 minus the two cylinders. I've taken my Blazer through that mileage and you will likely face a fair share of repairs due to age, but this will be true of ANY truck really. And no rust? Even better. Rustproof that chassis if it hasn't been already so it stays that way. Chevy's are dependable and last forever. With proper maintenance, I've seen these engines and trannys last up to 250k.

thats a good deal my dad has a 98 with the 5.7 vortec engine also they run forever and never left him strannded and the 4x4 works amazing he gets out of anything with it its a great truck i highly recoomend it and for that cheap you should pick it up before some one else does nice find good luck

i have that exact same truck but its a 98 and has 132,500 miles on it, 168K for a 97, it could be better but its not terrible, its a little more than avg but like i said its not real high miles, 4000 sounds about right if the truck is in good running condition, my truck has been a good truck, normal maintenance and mechanical problems a truck this age would have but still nothing real major, you could go to KBB.com and fill out everything about it and check every box of everything it has and see if its worth 4000 but 4000 sounds right
