I am new to torrents, mainly .rar files, and I cant seem to open them please help?

i am torrent stupid. i am new to torrents. I have masterd music files, and most videos, but programs such as warcraft 2, and an internet secruity program seem to deal in .rar files. everytime i try to open it it asks for me to "use the web service to find the correct program" and "select a program from a list of programs"

I am lost from there. please help me.

rar files are like compressed files. you simply have to extract them using a program like winrar.

you can get a free 40 day trial of winrar at www.download.com. although im sure you could get it free elsewhere.

Like Jake says .rar files are a compressed file which compresses tighter than .zip so many file sharing people use .rar compression instead of .zip.

A freeware program called RarZilla will open them for you for FREE:
