It is about a man stranded on a planet of crystal in a mechanical suit. When his power runs out the natives rescue him by converting his body into a crystalline body. It is an old paperback book I read over 20 years ago and now that I thought about it I cant get it out of my mind until I find it. I am hoping that someone has a better memory then mine.
