...2005 . It came with a rubber gasket? I bought a Transmission filter kit from Napa for my transmission> Mazda 3 2005 . It came with a rubber gasket! When I went to Mazda to get tran.fluid they said that there is no gasket on transmission pan! They use silicone. Is it ok to use gasket? And should I use some sealent on pan before I use gasket?.

Don't use silicon on a rubber gasket when installing. It allows the rubber gasket to squeeze out of position. I'd clean up the surfaces and use only the correct type of silicon.

Actually for a transmission pan you should use the gasket with a thin coat of wheel bearing grease on both sides of the gasket. It helps seal and lets it come off next time, easier.
