This could be one of two problems.
A. There are thousands of false files out there. That is, they are files full of empty data that could be harmless, or could contain viruses, advertisements, or spam. Obnoxious users out there often get a hold of or create these, and then rename them to popular movie titles to get people to download them. There was even incidents a while back of the RIAA and MPAA releasing these on the Internet to try to discourage people from downloading. You just need to know how to sort out the good from the bad before downloading.
B. You do not have the proper codecs. You will need to download a codec pack in order to view them. If you have Windows Vista, go to the first link below, if you have Windows XP, go to the second link below.
My opinion though is that it is option A. If it were a codec problem, then you would more than likely still be able to hear sound, but not see video. It is more than likely a bad file that some kid renamed to I Am Legend.
