...so cooked longer. Is it safe to eat? I cooked a chicken today with the aim of making it into a chicken pie tomorrow (I have a recipe which uses cooked chicken so I know it is okay to reheat it in this way).
I used a delia recipe which involves cooking the chicken at a very high temperature for 50 minutes which I have used before and it worked like a charm, so I took the chicken out at the right time and left it to rest.
However, about 20 minutes later I noticed that the chicken was not cooked, the juices weren't clear and the legs were still pink. This must have been because I defrosted the chicken in the fridge and forgot to let it warm up to room temperature before cooking, so I put the chicken back in the oven and cooked for a further half an hour until it was completely cooked.
I have read that cooling and reheating chicken is a bad idea, but the chicken was still hot as it had only been out of the oven for 20 minutes, but my partner thinks it is unwise to eat it as it cooled down slightly mid cooking process.
Will it be safe to use in my pie tomorrow or should I just cut my losses and buy another chicken?
