I'm being sued for 4000 for damages on this bike. The owner said (at the time of the crash), that it wasn't a big deal and I could just buy the bike from him for 1000. That was fine. He wasn't insured at the time and so, since this was a friend I didn't call anyone (Police, insurance ect). I was a new driver at the time, and have since decided I do not want to ride a motorcycle. I offered to buy all the parts needed to repair the bike from a local bike part manufacturer, and pay for having it repaired that way. however now he wants me to pay 3 times as much for him to have it repaired somewhere else. Do I just have to pay him the 4000, or because he told me I could buy the bike (when we were all buddy-buddy), do I just fight for that deal? I want to make things right, but I feel like because we're no longer friends he's trying to milk me. Any legal advice?
