Ive been playing basketball a lot lately at the gym for cardio purposes, plus its fun. i used to play it a lot with my friends in high school but stopped playing casually for years.
Lately ive been loving basketball, its the only sport i watch, the only video game i play is nba2k, and i love doing it on my days off from weight lifting, plus i play in a local asian/filipino league.

One problem i realized lately, which i should have realized earlier though, is that i dont really know where to go on the court w/o the basketball, if i have the basketball i pretty much know where to go, either drive to the basket, shoot, or pass to the open man. YET im not a guard, im a bigger guy so i play more of a forward position. In my league, when we get down to our court im always playing the corner, but i find myself either staying in that corner the whole time or running to the basket to try to grab a rebound. but i find that i never get the ball because i dont even know how to move on the court without the basketball. other than that i really dont know where the hell to go. do you guys have any tips for me because i do want to get better at the game as i have taken a late interest in it.

Generally, big men are moved around to spread the floor, post up, or set picks. If you have a decent jump shot, set a pick for your teammate and tell him to pass to you or drive depending on how the defense reacts. Another thing you should do is post up other players. Try and gain inside position close to the basket then call for the ball. Once you catch it try and back him down to score or pass outside if a double team comes. Generally you should be moving around the court so you will make the defense work and they won't have as much energy for offense.

I play on a my HS team and we have an offense called the flex. Maybe you should ask your teammates/friends to develop an offensive scheme so that EVERYONE knows where to go. Also, if you don't want an offense, just remember, when someone on your team drives to the hoop, get out of the way. If someone dribbles towards you, cut backdoor.
