Computer Specs:Dell Dimension E521AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ Processor Windows Vista Home Premium 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs XFX 9600GT 512 MB GDDR3 Video RAM, clocked at 650 MHz 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache I ask because it's taking about a minute to boot up, 5-10 seconds to pull up an internet window, and my internet connection fails from time to time. Is there any way I can find out how my computer should be running, and how to make it do that?

Try scanning your pc to check you haven't any virus's on it Also clear your history to free up memory

Contact your internet carrier, sometimes I have to do that, because they can stay on the phone with you and walk you threw what to do.......................

Your Specs seem ok...Run your PC through the best free on line scan..This will tell you what you can do to optimize it.http://hubpages.com/_www/hub/The_Best_Free_Online_System_Scan_The main ways are to stop unnecessary start up programs...Clear all temporary Internet files..Disc clean up..Disc defrag are the many ways of optimizing your PC...

First of all, it is Vista (crap) which takes an obscene amount of time to start up. You might want to go into the Windows Mobility Center on your computer and make sure it is on High Performance. I can't help with the internet connection but as far as the window goes, refer to the previous paragraph or get a better web browser. If you are using IE (which sucks) try something like Firefox or Safari, maybe Opera.

well did you download alot of programs?if so, then it takes up data space and results to slowly function.what you do is: click "start"you will then go to "computer"next, right click on drive (C:)go to "properties"go to "disk cleanup"and you know what to do nextOR/ANDgo to "start"look for "control panel"click that then go to "programs"then "uninstall programs"then you know what to do

Your specs are pretty decentBut Vista (especially Premium) is a very big system resource hogOn XP that would have been a lightning speed computer, but like I said Vista just kind of sucks unless you have like an AlienWareSorry man thats all I can say, I know you cant downgrade to XP without a major cost but you may want to look into Linux (it's free) if your not a Gamer, but remember your leaving the comfort of Windowswww.linux.com/whatislinuxLinux= Speed No Viruses Nice Eye CandyBut 90% of you programs that you enjoy in WIndows wont work, but there are jobs that accomplish the same tasksFirefox = Internet ExplorerPidgin = AIMEvolution/Thunderbird = Outlook ExpressOpenOffice = Microsoft Office+ Many more

Your computer will only run as fast as your broadband connection, try deleting your cookies and internet files,...there is no way to stop your internet connections from failing this happens sometimes.. to check your computers connection speed, while on line go into start ..connect to and click on your connection this will tell you the speed

i'd run a virus scan just to checkyou said your internet fails, do you have a wireless connection? if so you may wanna check to router or modem, that may be why it takes that long to get the internet up

havent checked other answers yetbut try installing winxp, also reduce the boot up loadload as few programs as possible in booting upensure it by running msconfig.exe rest all depends on wat all applications you hav installed
