I had to have the hard drive in my laptop replaced. My computer came

with dvd and cd writing software.? Now I can't write dvd's or cd's. Can I download this software? Or am I just out of luck?

I deleted the crappy Roxio software that Dell gave me. I use imgburn for burning cd's and dvd's. http://www.imgburn.com/
To turn avi files into movies I use a program called DVDFlick.
http://www.dvdflick.net/ DVD flick works WITH imgburn so you'll want to get imgburn first.

Both programs are free.

Should have come as disks with your computer. If you lost the disks you can get nero at http://www.nero.com/enu/nero9-introduction.html and it is pretty good. Infrarecorder is opensource (Free) http://infrarecorder.org/?page_id=5
