I co signed for my son in hawaii to buy a truck. he passed away about a month ago. i couldn't keep the truck i live on the mainland plus he owed 10,800 on it. it tried to sell it to a dealership but since his name was on the registration and i had no death cert. ( he was lost in the ocean...never found).
i took it to the bank and reliquished the vehicle. now the loan office told me there was something mechanically wrong with the truck and they had to fix it plus i was resposible for oct and nov payments. i drove the truck and my son's dad who is a mechanic drove it before it was turned in and he said it was in good shpe. it did have a few dings and a couple of scrathes. the bank says i'm responsible to pay for the repairs or if not they will deduct it fromn the selling price and i will have to pay what ever the difference is whne the sell it. she also said i had to make payments till it was sold. i want to know if i have any rights? i didn't think i had to make payments if i turned it over to them. can anyone advise me on this?
