I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Extended Cab. My transmission started whining so I

changed the fluid and? filter. The magnet had quite a bit of metal on it. I took it next door to the transmission shop and the guy said it looked like I am screwed. He sad I wouldn't last the day with that transmission. I put it all back together and the transmission is doing about the same. It still makes a whining sound though. Does anyone know what it could be?
