I have a brand new DVD/VCR combo where the audio works but no video.?

I had to get a new DVD/VCR combo because the DVD player on the old one stopped working. If the old one is connected thru the back it works fine, but the new one (Toshiba DVR670) it does not work thru the back just the front?? I'm wondering if it is a legacy issue??
